Valentine's Lingerie Lust List

You may not know it, but I spend a lot of my time drooling over beautiful lingerie. There is no greater satisfaction than feeling great when you're a little bit naked and a lovely set of lingerie has the power to do that. Whether you're single, a newly-wed or have been married for a thousand years, it has an undeniable affect on our confidence and self-esteem - and it is genuinely designed to draw attention to our best bits. With Valentine's Day only a few weeks' away, you may be looking to treat yourself to something luxurious and lacy. So, go ahead - drool with me!

Here are three gorgeous lingerie collections that are very deserving of having a place on my Valentine's Lust List. You will notice that all three sets are black because for me, there is nothing sexier than a black, lacy, barely-there set of underwear to accentuate feminine curves.

Agent Provocateur

The Kendall lingerie collection is stunning with a lovely contemporary twist. The halter neck bra creates an amazing cleavage, even for smaller breasts, and is adjustable at the back for the perfect fit. The demi cups are covered in black Leavers lace, which is delicately beautiful and offers a tempting glimpse of what's underneath.. As with most underwear sets, there is a choice of underwear to match. My favourite it the overt brief (left) as they are flirtatious and feminine with a cheeky cut-out at the back. And if you want to go all out, complete the set with the lovely lace suspender belt. I love wide suspender belts, as they accentuate the waist while providing more coverage for the stomach. It definitely is a lacy, luxurious midnight dream.

Loveday London

The Oncilla collection from Loveday London simply oozes glamour. The combination of black Italian leather and beaded lace allows you to embrace your wild side in a feminine way. The demi cup bra has fully adjustable double leather straps with beautifully beaded lace cups, which is truly seductive. To match, choose from a naughty ouvert thong with a thrilling crotchless surprise or a flirty scalloped Brazilian brief with leather panels and transparent mesh. Complete the lustrous look with a gorgeously delicate lace and leather suspender belt and for those times when your feminine prowess cannot be contained, there is even a blindfold and boudoir cushion to match...

Edge o Beyond

The Lily collection is a lovely classic addition to my Lust List. The delicate bra is constructed with three panels of luxurious Leavers Lily that create a soft barely-there look. The Brazilian brief is elegant yet subtly cheeky, as the back is adorned with tiny shell buttons for an ouvert finish but for me, the classic thong wins my heart. I love the scalloped lace detail at the front, which intensifies the soft nature of the collection and complements the eyelash lace suspender belt. If you want to take this collection to the next level, add a touch of sparkle with Edge o Beyond's 18ct gold dipped chains.

A Taste Of The Tropics: Pineapple Passion

January is nearly over, which means motivation for those infamous 'New Year, New Me' diets is probably dwindling. But in those times when a Chinese takeaway seems like a good idea, when you decide to skip breakfast for an extra 10 minutes in bed or when the crisp cupboard is incessantly calling your name - just remember, good food is your friend.

Living a healthy lifestyle should not be a punishment. It's about getting the best out of our bodies in order to be able to enjoy the things we love doing. As the saying goes; you are what you eat.

So, to give my body love and to keep my tastebuds on their toes, I drink smoothies. Now, you might be fed up of everybody jumping on the smoothie bandwagon but it really is a delicious and convenient way to fuel your body.

My Pineapple Passion recipe is the perfect smoothie for those who don't like 'green' smoothies. Although it has the base of a green smoothie (banana, avocado and spinach), the pineapple makes it more palatable for those who don't like the raw and earthy quality of veggie smoothies. And it's also a reminder that summer is on its way!

I also have a new-found love for chia seeds, so have been adding them to my smoothies. They are an easy, nutritious and anti-oxidant rich addition to your diet, providing you with a great source of protein, omega 3, fibre and calcium. So, why not?

Ingredients:
5 sticks of fresh pineapple
1 ripe banana
1/2 avocado
1 handful of spinach
2 tsp of chia seeds
1/2 lime juice
Dash of water
8 ice-cubes

Method:
1. Chop the pineapple, banana and avocado into small pieces and place in the blender.
2. Add the spinach and squeeze the lime for juice.
3. Add the ice-cubes and a dash of water.
5. Blend until smooth. Add more water to reach your desired consistency.
6. Pour into a lovely large glass and enjoy!

New Year, New Fashion Trends: Part 2

2015 is now long gone. So, continuing to look to the fashion future, here are more key trends of what's to become of the fashion industry in 2016.

If you missed Part 1 of my New Year, New Fashion Trends blog, you can read it here.

Wear Your Stripes

What I enjoy most about stripes is that they are so classically chic but at the same time, there are so many different variations to play around with: vertical, horizontal, bold, fine, regular, unconventional...  the list goes on. Stripes are definitely a fail-proof way to make any outfit pop. They are also great at creating optical illusions, whether you want to make your legs look a little bit longer or your waist a little bit smaller. A trend that works from head to toe and for all ages, stripes are so right this season so be sure to channel your inner zebra.

2. Spot Stripe Flippy Dress,    £34 Topshop

Flouncy Femininity

2016 is the year to embrace your femininity! I have a huge soft spot for all things floral and flouncy so this trend doesn't need to win me over. The pieces that I've chosen from my high street edit have soft, flowing A-line designs, which are really flattering for all figures. Feminine designs are typically very relaxed and a great way to work that effortless boho chic look. The key with fashion trends is making it work for you, so if overly-feminine floral designs aren't for you, choose a geometric or abstract print instead.

2. Kimchi Blue Poppy Black Floral Dress,    £52 Urban Outfitters
3. Ebonie N Ivory High Neck Festival Top,   £42 ASOS

Sleeves

Taking inspiration from Old England, billowing sleeves are set to make a mark in 2016. With lots of variation in structure and style, oversized sleeves play with proportions, creating a decorative and dramatic statement. Thick, belled cuffs and flared sleeves with clean lines are my favourite way to work this trend and they look great paired with skinny jeans or cigarette pants.

2. Staring At Stars Embroidered Bell Sleeve Dress £66   Urban Outfitters
3. Pleat Batwing Top £28  Topshop

Mirror Metallics

If you're looking to create a statement in 2016, work those shimmering fabrics and shiny accessories. Bright metallics, sequins and galactic-inspired embellishments were very popular on the catwalks, so it would be rude not to add a bit of sparkle to your wardrobe. To ensure your look is more magnificent than mirror ball, opt for pieces with a simple, classic cuts and allow the material to do the talking. A bit of shimmer makes even the simplest of designs appear high-impact, so shine on!

New Year, New Fashion Trends: What Will You Be Wearing In 2016?

For me, a new year isn't just a new year. Amongst many other things, it brings new goals, new loves, new opportunities and of course, new fashion.

As the saying goes: out with the old and in with the new. So, it's time to give your decaying AW15 wardrobe a spring clean and look to the fashion future.

Here are a few key fashion trends from the SS16 catwalks, paired with pieces from the high street, to give you a sprinkling of inspiration.

It's All About The Shoulders

There's something elegant yet rather sexy about getting your shoulders out! I loved this trend in 2015 and I will love it in 2016 too. It's playful, feminine and effortless without the risk of ever showing too much skin. There's so many different cuts to choose from, you can work this look all year round: minimal cut-out designs with high necklines, designs to show off that wonderful décolletage, completely off-the-shoulder numbers... The choice is yours. It's a trend that works for everyone, whatever shape or size. (I, for one, have never heard of someone being self-conscious about their shoulders)... So, embrace what you love about your body and celebrate it. It's time to give everyone the cold shoulder.

2. Pins & Needles Cold Shoulder Solid Wrap Dress,    £52 Urban Outfitters
3. Khaki Cold Shoulder T-Shirt,     £30 River Island

Romantic Ruffles

Femininity is on form this year and ruffles are set to become a key detail trend, as the SS16 catwalk showed us. But don't dismiss this trend for seeming too girly, frilly and flouncy (you are not a 5 year old girl anymore), ruffles come in all shapes and sizes. As you can see from my high street edit, I prefer a minimal, structured ruffle that adds delicacy to a look - but feel free to go all out and embrace the romance trend with a bit of all-over ruffle drama! Either way, I guarantee you will look way more fashionista than frill-zilla.

2. Floral Ruffle Tee,    £34 Topshop
3. Metallic Trim Ruffle Top,    £22 Next

Bedroom Antics

The 90's satin slip dress is back and looking slinkier than ever. With underwear as outerwear working as a lead concept, the iconic slip dress is the perfect mix of daring, effortless and sexy. Silky material and thin strap detailing will ensure all eyes are on you! If you feel a bit exposed, slips lend themselves well to layering, so don't rule out this lustful trend on colder days. For an everyday look, team with chunky boots and channel your inner grunge. For a gorgeous party look, pair with dainty heels and simple jewellery.

2. Tiffany Slip Dress,    £35 Motel Rocks

Thirsty Thursday: Blueberry Bliss

I've never been the type of person who eats just because I need energy. I eat because I absolutely love food! I would even go so far as describing myself as a human dustbin (glamorous, I know). But after eating so much of everything at Christmas, my body is crying out for a bit of goodness.

But I'm okay with that. Thankfully, I don't find eating fruit and vegetables a chore in any way. I like how wholesome, nutritious food makes me feel and that is pretty damn good! I feel bright-eyed and bushy-tailed but most importantly, I feel happy. Life is for living, after all and if you're not happy, it's not going to be all that great.

We should never underestimate the power of having a good relationship with food. I don't believe in crash dieting just to lose a few pounds, I don't believe in eating things we don't like just because they're good for us and I don't believe in depriving ourselves of a little treat now and again. These actions contribute to a negative attitude towards food and there's already enough negativity in the world.

I believe in the enjoyment of food and enjoying everything in moderation. Of course, we should all be considerate of our beautiful bodies but we should also embrace the pleasure that food can bring. Whatever I eat, I try and find a nice balance and this smoothie is just that.

It's so easy to make, filling, packed full of vitamins and antioxidants and it tastes amazing. So, if you're looking for a healthy, nutritious boost, give this baby a try.

Ingredients:
1 ripe banana
150g blueberries
5 basil leaves
1 tablespoon of peanut butter
1 tablespoon of greek yoghurt
1 tablespoon of Body Me Organic Super Energy Mix (optional)
1 teaspoon of honey
Dash of water
6 ice-cubes

Method:
1. Chop the banana and place all ingredients in a blender.
5. Blend until smooth. Add more water (if needed) to reach your desired consistency.
6. Pour into a lovely large glass and enjoy!

Beauty Bites: My Top 5 Winter Wonders

Winter. It's the season where the combined evils of cold weather, dry winds and artificial heat set out to wreak havoc with our skin and hair. So, it's more important than ever to preserve, protect and pamper ourselves so we can continue to sparkle when the sun isn't shining.

So, I've chosen my top 5 beauty saviours that can beat the chill and help alleviate those winter woes.

1. Blistex Relief Cream - £2.69, Boots
Thanks to some words of wisdom from my sister, this is my go-to cream for lip care. Although it has a thick consistency, it soothes dry, chapped lips immediately and doesn't leave a horrible sticky residue like some lip products I have tried. It also contains peppermint oil to sooth, giving a nice cooling sensation on application and makes your lips feel plump and energised. My only issue with this product is that the tube is prone to splitting, which can leave you with an oozy disaster on your hands. So keep it safe. (Tip: it is great to apply before lipstick, as it stops it from becoming cracked and dry.)

2. Coconoil Organic Virgin Coconut Oil (460g) - £9.99, online
I may be a self-confessed coconut oil obsessive but that's because it does the job and it does it well. Some people seem to be intimidated by oil and do whatever they can to keep oiliness at bay - and in the process, they strip themselves of all their skin's oily goodness. But all this does is cause the skin to panic and produce more oil to compensate. It may sound counter-intuitive to use oil if you are a naturally oily, but it can trick the skin into stopping overproduction of its own oils while benefiting you in other ways too.

I use coconut oil on my skin and nails daily and as a hair masque once a week. On my face, I usually use it after I have cleansed in the evening and I apply it as I would a normal moisturiser. I have always had oily skin but coconut oil has really helped, keeping my skin hydrated, clear of blemishes and soft. (Tip: It also works great as a makeup remover!). I also massage it into my fingernails and toenails daily and find that this keeps them strong. When I use it as a hair masque, I massage it into the lengths of my hair and my scalp, leaving it for about 15 mins before washing my hair as normal. As I have long, thick hair, it keeps it soft and helps to prevent breakages and split ends. It also nourishes the scalp and stimulates hair growth.

For most of your beauty needs, coconut oil is king.

3. Sukin Super Greens Detoxifying Clay Masque (100ml) - £11.49 , Holland and Barrett
This product is a beauty must-have and an absolute pleasure to wear! A clay-based masque infused with kale, spirulina, avocado oil and parsley, offering a super green blend of detoxifying antioxidants and vitamins to promote healthy, youthful skin. Not only does it smell amazing, invigorating all senses, it is very easy to apply. Simply use your fingertips to smooth all over the face and leave until the clay is dry to touch (approx. 20 mins). Then rinse with warm water. Instantly, your skin feels cleansed, refreshed and revitalised.

You can read my review for the rest of the Sukin Super Greens range here.

4. Yves Saint Laurent Le Teinte Touche Éclat Foundation (30ml) - £31.50, Debenhams / Boots
I like my makeup to look fresh, dewy and light - and this does exactly that. The lightweight formula moisturises, illuminates and perfects the skin while leaving you with a lovely healthy glow. As it is so light, it blends beautifully but coverage is not compromised and can be built to offer a medium coverage. In the colder months when skin can be dry, foundation can often dry up too, giving a caked-on appearance but Le Teinte Touche Éclat literally shines on. The final finish is a natural look of radiant, youthful skin that can breathe.

(Tip: If you are a fan of the Touche Éclat pen, then you will also love this product.)

5. Lush Ocean Salt Face and Body Scrub, (120ml) - £7.95, Lush
My face doesn't usually appreciate face scrubs. They tend to aggravate my skin and leave me looking blotchier than before I used the product. However, this little number from Lush has been fabulous from Day 1. It's made with both fine and course sea salt to exfoliate and lift dirt and dead skin cells from your pores. I use a small amount of product once a week and massage in small circular motions, taking care around my eyes and rinse. I find that this is enough for me, especially in winter when my skin is particularly dry and easily irritable. It leaves my skin looking bright, revived and feeling soft. But why I love this product what really seals the deal for me is the delicious citrus smell! The combination of fresh ingredients, including coconut, avocado, lime, grapefruit and seaweed is so invigorating and uplifting that you just want to eat it (but please don't!).
